LOCATION The Biological Reserve El Chile is located between the departments of Francisco Morazán and the Paradise, to 110 kms N.O. of the capital city. In order to visit the reserve the Tegucigalpa-Olancho highway is taken, until arriving at Guaimaca, in km 90, from this community, cross by a highway 20 kms to the south, to arriving at the village of San Marcos de Guaimaca, bases of the Reserve.
DESCRIPTION With an extension of 62 kms, the biological reserve El Chile characterizes by steep slopes and natural walls that have maintained their zone of damping almost intact and nucleus Is a wooded region height forest. Its zone of damping is dominate by forests of wide leaf and cultures of coffee. Its cloudy forest is in favor compound mainly of aguacatillos, lianas arbores cents ferns and others, pine, to liquidambar and oak conform their mixed forest.

POPULATION Its population, mainly farmer, shares east territory with cultural an important group of people and religiously differentiated. The clothes of the Mennonites: veils white and black, braces and long skirts, contrast with the rest of the habitants of the zone.
LEGAL SITUATION The National Congress declared Biological Reserve in 1987, by means of Decree 87-87 In year 2000, INADES and COHDEFOR, subscribed an Agreement of Protection and Handling of the Reserve.
IMPORTANCE The Reserve is the home of a variety of vegetal species and animals. In addition, by his high water productivity, it supplies of the liquid appraised one more than 50 communities of the environs and considered like a possible water supplier for Tegucigalpa.
ATTRACTIVE - Imposing walls and 2010 cliffs - exuberant and diverse Vegetation - Waterfall impressive, between which the cascade of the Avocado plantation and White Spurts of Piñuelas stand out. - Varied Fauna: quetzals, coas, toucans emerald, oropendo them, sparrowhawks tijerilla, turkey hens, deer, yaguarundi, jaspeadas and flying squirrels, serpents of all type, amphibians and innumerable species of insects and other invertebrates.
THAT IT MAKES INADES IN THE RESERVE? The INADES, is contributing with the handling of the reserve, in addition works in activities oriented to the development to the communities and the conservation of their resources. It promotes organic agriculture, it offers technical attendance, it raises support funds, it makes actions of environmental qualification and it foments alternatives of rural tourism. These actions are oriented in the North and Southeastern sector of the reserve.
